What is the International Weather Service?

The International Weather Service is a global coalition comprising of expert dusologists (aka "disaster researchers") from around the globe. Currently, 184 of the remaining 187 nations-groups are represented! It was founded in 2026 in response to global anomalous climate effects that warranted immediate unified research. IWS dusologists work hard every day to continue experimenting with novel ways to protect and mitigate against Extreme Weather Events (EWEs) that plague our world. The organization also works to educate the general population about how and why these EWEs happen, so that they can be better prepared for the unexpected.

Education saves lives. (IWS Motto)

The IWS establishes and maintains the Classification System used to organize EWEs.

Okay, but what is this site, really? Welcome to the IWS. You'll note that there is in fact no such organization in our consenus reality. This is an interactive writing project inspired by popular internet-based psychological horror combined with a youthful fascination with natural disasters. All content on this website is strictly fictional. Do not attempt to use any information here during actual disasters. Any and all references to actual people, events, and places are entirely coincidental. Have fun, and let me know what you think!
